This is a simple tutorial on how to add a calendar in Pages for macOS. While it’s possible to create a calendar in Pages from scratch, it’s easier to just import it.

Let’s start by opening Pages for Mac. From the “Choose a Template” window select the “Blank Landscape” template in the “Basic” section.

Choose the blank landscape template in Pages

Tip: If you started with the standard Pages template (in portrait mode), you can change the page orientation to landscape by clicking on the “Document” icon in the top-right corner of the window. Then, select the “Document” tab and, in the “Page Orientation” section, choose the landscape view.

Unfortunately, Pages does not have a calendar template, but Numbers does. So let’s open Numbers. Most likely, you already have it installed, but if not, you can download it (for free) from the Mac App Store.

When starting Numbers, from the “Choose a Template” window select the “Calendar” template. If you need more details on how to do that, take a look at the beginning of my Numbers calendar tutorial.

If you did everything right, you should have Numbers open and see something like this.

The default calendar template in Numbers

Change the month and the year to what you need. To keep things simple, I recommend you remove the two small calendars at the top. You can do this by selecting them and pressing the “Delete” or “Backspace” key on your keyboard. One final change: select the main calendar and make it a bit smaller. In my case, I reduced the width from 10 inches to 9 inches, so you should aim to make it 10-15% less wide. Dragging the side of the calendar (which is, in fact, a table) will bring up a tool-tip displaying the width and height. The screenshot below should help a bit.

Resize the calendar Numbers

Now that we have our calendar ready, we can bring it into Pages. In the Numbers menu bar go to “Edit” then “Select All”. Now that we have our calendar selected, go to “Edit” again and click “Copy”.

Next, we switch back to Pages.

Important! Make sure that your document (page) is wide enough that there are no horizontal scrollbars. Otherwise you might get some alignment issues.

All we have to do now is paste the calendar we copied from Numbers. So go to “Edit” in the menu bar and click on “Paste”. If everything went well, you should have a calendar in Pages.

Tip: Change the year or the month just like you did in Numbers. You’ll noticed that the calendar is getting updated. That’s right – you just made a dynamic calendar in Pages!
