I made a Google Calendar cheat sheet which aside from common actions such as creating, editing and deleting events, also includes popular keyboard shortcuts.
Create a New Event
The most obvious way to create a new event in Google Calendar is to click on the “Create” button. This will make a new event in the next half an hour interval.
Another way to add an event to Google Calendar is to click (single click!) on the day and time slot when you want the event to be created.
Edit an Event
To edit an event simply double click on it. This will open a screen where you can view and edit an event’s details. When you are done, click the “Save” button on the top right side or to exit, click on the “X” symbol in the top left corner.
Duplicate an Event
To duplicate an event in Google Calendar double click on the event. This will take you to the edit screen. Here, click on the “More actions” button in the top left corner. From the drop-down menu choose “Duplicate”.
Copy an Event
When editing an event you can also copy the event to another calendar. Clicking on the “More actions” button in the top left corner will give you a list of calendars to which you can copy the event.
Delete an Event
The easiest way to delete an event in Google Calendar is to right-click the event and choose “Delete” from the drop-down menu.
Recover a Deleted Event
For a short amount of time Google Calendar lets you perform “undo delete” for an event. But if you want you recover deleted events you have to click on the “gear” icon representing the “Settings menu” and then from the drop-down to choose “Trash”.
Change Event Color
To change the color of an event in Google Calendar, right-click on the event and select the color you wish from the drop-down menu.
Add Sports and Holiday Calendar to Google Calendar
A very useful feature of Google Calendar is that you can subscribe to curated calendars with public holidays, religious holidays and sports events. To access this list, click on the “+” sign next to “Other calendars” and from the pop-up menu choose “Browse calendars of interest”.
Keyboard Shortcuts
A full list of available Google Calendar keyboard shortcuts is available if you press ?
(the question mark key).
As I find new Google Calendar tips and tricks I will add them to this post in the hope that it will help you be more productive and organize better.
